Metro Mining Limited is an Australian exploration and mining company based in Brisbane, Queensland. The company has major bauxite projects in Cape York and one of Australia’s largest thermal coal resources in Queensland’s Surat Basin. Metro’s immediate focus is its Bauxite Hills Operation approximately 95 kilometers north of Weipa in the world renowned high-quality, export-grade bauxite Cape York region of Queensland. Metro controls approximately 1,300 square kilometers of exploration tenements - the largest tenement holding in the region outside the Rio Tinto’s Alcan mining leases. The Bauxite Hills PFS confirms a +13 year mine life based on existing DSO resources of 53.6 Mt with potential to extend mine life utilising an 11.7 Mt Indicated Resource at a nearby deposit, and from further exploration. Metro has secured a non-binding memorandum of understanding to sell bauxite to Xinfa Group, one of the largest integrated aluminium companies in China.
