Nantes − Saint Nazaire Port is a public enterprise corporation. The Port Authority works in partnership with the Region’s public-sector and private-sector stakeholders to deliver economic and environmental improvements on the Loire Estuary, on which the Port is located. As an industrial facility, Nantes – Saint Nazaire Port provides the interface between land and sea, serving an entire Region and its economy. An international industrial and logistical platform, the Port is connected to several modes of transport, including sea, inland waterway, rail, road and air. Every year it receives close to 3 000 calls by merchant vessels, 1 200 goods trains and nearly 250 inland waterway barge convoys. For importing and exporting companies in the regions of Greater Western France, Nantes – Saint Nazaire Port makes available doorstep services that serve to optimize supply and distribution chains. Nantes – Saint Nazaire Port is also a regional planner and developer. Working alongside public-sector players (Central, Regional and Local Government bodies, consular organizations, etc.) and private-sector players (industrial companies, port-based and logistics firms, shippers and so on), the Port Authority contributes to economic development and helps create wealth and employment. The activities at the Port of Nantes – Saint Nazaire generate 24 400 jobs* at some 500 establishments forming a single port and industrial complex. * according to a study carried out by INSEE, the French National Institute of Economic and Statistical Information, and published on 29th June 2015.
