About Us Central Carriers has a 99 door cross dock facility located in the northwest of Edmonton. We have 24 carriers servicing areas in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the rest of Canada including the Northern Territories. History The name Central Truck Depot has been in continuous operation since the 1930’s but the present ownership has successfully operated since 1974. Central Truck Depot (1974) Ltd began operation in November of 1974. It was cooperatively owned by B&R Eckels Transport Ltd, HiWay 28 Freightways Ltd, Landing Transport Ltd, Leduc Truck Services Ltd, McDermott Transport Ltd, Stony Plain Transfer Ltd, Vegreville Transfer Ltd and Whitecourt Transport Ltd while still operating in the premises of Central Truck Depot (1965) Ltd. In August of 1975 the ownership moved the operation to a new 30 door facility located on 4.3 acres at 13008 – 163rd Street. The operating name was then change to Central Carriers (Edmonton) Ltd and 24 carriers were serviced from the new depot. The Depot rules limited the weight to 1500 lbs for both pick-ups and deliveries with approximately 400 shipments moving a day.
