Midnight Sun Service Dogs (MSSD) is a non-profit organization that trains and places service dogs, free of charge, to those with special needs. April Merchant is President and Founder of Midnight Sun Service Dogs. She is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator, a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP), the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and has had over 5 years experience training dogs. MSSD offers three different training programs: Therapy Dog, Owner/Self Trainer, and Service Dog. In the therapy program, dogs are trained(more info on program). In the owner/self-trainer program, the handler comes into the program with their own dog and learns how to train their pets to be their service dog whereas the service dog program matches a service dog with a handler. Thanks to all the generous donations and support from our community, we are able spread our love and our knowledge to those who need it most. Midnight Sun Service Dogs also believes that educating the public on the importance of service dogs and the benefits they provide for their owners is part of our mission as a company. Our community outreach programs allows us to be invited to give presentations to schools, businesses and other organizations to show the community what we do and why it’s important.
