The Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1949 by 45 young nisei (second-generation Japanese Americans). The chapter was created to fill a void left in the American Japanese community after WWII. The organization was founded on trying to build good citizenship among our young Japanese-Americans and to provide them with a medium of training for participation in worthwhile community-wide civic projects. The HJJCC is open to men and women of any ethnicity from ages 21 through 39. Membership provides the opportunity to: Develop personal and professional skills. Establish business contacts and professional networks. Participate in community service projects and social activities. Learn about Japanese-American culture and heritage through various programs and the Cherry Blossom Festival.
