The Laguna Beach Police Department is made up of 127 employees. Of that, 98 are full-time employees, 54 sworn & 44 professional staff members. This also includes approximately 10 Police Explorers, 15 Citizen's on Patrol Volunteers, 40 Animal Shelter Volunteers and over 300 Community Response Team Volunteers. The Laguna Beach Police Department believes in community-based policing philosophy, which follows, the principle when communities and law enforcement engage in transparent communication and mutual cooperation, the community as a whole is better served. As a result, personnel are involved in all aspects of the community, including schools, neighborhoods, businesses, visitors and community organizations.
