Anglican Overseas Aid

Anglican Overseas Aid is a relief and development agency of the Anglican Church of Australia, Diocese of Melbourne. Our vision is for a peaceful, just and sustainable world for all. Founded by the late David Penman in 1988, the Archbishop of Melbourne's International Relief and Development Fund, as it was then known, was established as a vehicle for Anglicans to respond to the many requests for support from Anglican churches and organisations around the world. Now called Anglican Overseas Aid, the fund, along with responding to disaster and emergency need, also supports development projects in countries across Africa, Central and South East Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific. We support our partners in their work and assist marginalised communities to take control of their own lives for the long term, to promote community well-being and lift themselves out of poverty. Our programs are available to all without discrimination of any kind. Although we understand our work as an integral part of the mission of the Church, we do not engage in evangelism or proselytising and do not use funds (public, government or otherwise) for such activities. The work we do is motivated and informed by our Christian faith and is enacted through best practice in development frameworks. We are fully accredited with the Australian Government and are a signatory to the ACFID Code of Conduct. Anglican Overseas Aid is a member of the ACT Alliance, Church Agencies Network (CAN), Church Agencies Network Disaster Operations (CAN DO), and the Anglican Alliance.
