ACES (Association of Chief Estates Surveyors and Property Managers in the Public Sector)
www.aces.org.ukACES represents the professional heads of property and asset management services in local authorities and the public sector organisations in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and senior surveyors in the private sector who predominantly provide professional property services to the public sector. ACES represents around 250 public sector bodies and has approximately 300 participating Full members. Management of ACES is undertaken at the national level, through ACES Council, which is made up of elected and nominated officers. ACES acts effectively through its website www.aces.org.uk and through its branch structure. Within the regions there are ACES Branches where colleagues get together on a regional basis to share best practice and discuss property issues. The designated branches are: • Eastern • Heart of England • London • North East • North West • Scottish (including Northern Ireland) • South East • South West • Welsh There is also a Rural practice branch which operates nationally. The principal objectives of ACES are to: • promote good asset and estates management in the interests of the community and public services • promote ACES as the first call for property advice and make representations to government, associations and institutions • meet and represent members' interests and to disseminate information • improve the public image of the profession • Dissemination of information – elected co-ordinators have responsibility for keeping abreast of current affairs and in disseminating this information to the membership. Roles cover: • Agricultural asset management • Commercial asset management • Compensation • Corporate asset management • Consultation • Housing • Performance management • Procurement • Rating & Taxation • RICS • Sustainability • Urban regeneration & Town centres • Valuation Co-ordinators report regularly at ACES Council, conferences and meetings and produce articles for ACES' publications.
