Opening its doors in 1934 under the name Bodman and Murrell Architects, the firm's first project was remodeling an old warehouse at the corner of Convention and Lafayette Streets in Baton Rouge, into the “Auto Hotel” - a service station and parking garage - the first type of this facility in Baton Rouge. In October 2002, the name changed to Noland & Wong, as Sit Wong became a partner after spending 20 years practicing with the company. After nearly 80 years, and several name changes to reflect the active participation of the principals, the firm has continued in uninterrupted practice for more than three-quarters of a century. Domain Design Architecture was founded in 2003 by two partners, Michael Buturla and Joey Wild. Being in existence for only 10 years at the time of the merger, the young firm became known in the Capital Region for its forward thinking designs, aggressive budgets and schedules, and successful completion of a variety of projects. Their success has led the firm to several repeat clients, including international work across the United States and the Caribbean. The firm of Domain Architecture was established in the Spring of 2013, when Noland & Wong and Domain Design Architecture merged into one entity. While both companies had different histories and inceptions, working on several joint venture projects together allowed them to see that they had several fundamental principals in common, with the focus being around solid design and client satisfaction. With this merger, we are able to provide even better service to our clients, bringing talents from both firms and nearly 100 years of combined experience. We are dedicated to providing the highest standard of architectural services to our clients, in providing facilities that are aesthetically pleasing, functional and economical to maintain.
