Southside Art Center, created in 1986 by co-founders Matt & Robin Rhoades, is a non-profit 501-C-3 serving adults with developmental disabilities to create a forum that applies the medium of opportunity, blending artistic expression, personal progress, and active citizenship toward individual empowerment. We have offices in Sacramento, Elk Grove, Auburn, Grass Valley and Roseville. Southside Art Center's vision is to see people with developmental disabilities as full citizens of the community who have the ability and the opportunity to contribute to society, prosper financially, and make decisions that affect their lives. We value respect, integrity, creativity, celebration of life, personal growth, advancement and courage. Our mission, vision and values are accomplished through several different avenues: Our Art & Employment programs helps adults develop individual, collaborative and corporate art that is then sold through commissioning, at our sites or through our Southside Art Center Gallery located in Sacramento on El Camino & Watt at the Country Club Plaza. We provide green energy living-wage-based jobs with our Recycling company serving the greater Sacramento area. We also provide volunteering opportunities through our Community Volunteerism program in places like the Red Cross, Sac Foodbank, and SPCA. Finally we serve adults with autism and/or behavioral needs through our highly successful Passage programs.
