Described as ‘one of the country’s truly great gardens’ by Country Life, Borde Hill was created by Colonel Stephenson Robert Clarke from seeds gathered by the Great Plant Hunters of the early 1900’s. The Garden is renowned for its impressive collection of rare trees, shrubs and plants, and is the ‘mother’ home of many notable hybrid plants including Camellia williamsii ‘Donation’ and Alstroemeria ‘Walter Fleming’. Events from horticulture, music, art and trails for all the family are held seasonally. With a cafe serving homemade food, picnic areas and a playground on offer, this is the perfect place for everyone to enjoy a wonderful day out in the beautiful Sussex countryside.
