Scotcoin: what it is, what it can do and why it’s different Cryptocurrencies. You’ve been reading about them for a while now. They are what is known as ‘digital currencies’ – the most famous example being Bitcoin. Scotcoin is also a crypto currency. We call it ’SCOT’. (We like that name!). It’s a crypto with a difference in that it has embedded in it a charitable core. Practically, this means that it is designed to do good. The organisation responsible for Scotcoin is what is known as a ‘Community Interest Company’. Practically, this means that it is designed to do good and its actions and behaviours are held up to the very closest legal scrutiny. What can Scotcoin potentially do? Lots of things, really. One clear mission is to target those in need. This might involve food or clothing poverty, for example.
