Green Souls is a community run project started in 2012 to actively address environmental, health and community concerns by practicing sustainable urban farming in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Our organic farms are volunteer-supported social projects that provide in-house nutritious organic produce, nature therapy and life skills to communities who need it the most. Our organic produce is grown without using harmful chemical pesticides and fertilizers, unlike in modern agricultural methods which damage soil fertility and human health. Modern food processing practices also deplete nutritional value of food, leading to increasing malnutrition and deficiencies. They are also ‘green’ hubs, where we share with urban citizens, young and old, innovative methods of growing food such as permaculture and natural farming, kitchen-gardening, composting, local solid waste management, re-purposing plastic, grey water-recycling and other sustainable practices. Our workshops and training sessions with schools, housing societies, corporates and individuals bring knowledge and awareness to the wider public, thus furthering our vision of seeing the city grow its own local organic food in a healthy and self-sufficient way!
