Housing Opportunities for People Everywhere (HOPE) is a robust partner in the fight to end homelessness, increase affordable housing, and expanding housing justice in Rhode Island. In its fifteen year history, HOPE has offered community partners vital bandwidth, providing the state's largest nighttime outreach force to connect Rhode Islanders experiencing homelessness with housing resources. We've lead new initiatives, like the Housing Assistance Collaborative, a team of students, case managers, and public-interest attorneys that help individuals through cumbersome subsidized housing processes. HOPE is also an important partner in addressing the state's affordable housing crisis through legislative advocacy and action. HOPE students have played an important role in past efforts to increase housing stock and access to affordable transportation for our elderly and disabled neighbors. Today, we seek legislation to prohibit discrimination against those who use government-issued rental assistance.
