The Israel Palestine Project
www.israelpalestineproject.orgThe reality of violence and discord emanating from the relationship of the Israeli and Palestinian peoples stands in the way of normalcy for both. The consequent and constant irritation of the unresolved condition of “Occupier” and “Occupied”, the unremitting attempts at a military solution, and the repeated failures of political attempts to resolve the dividing issues, produce a demoralizing impact on the Israeli people and desperation and despair among the Palestinian people. The Israel Palestine Project (TIPP) has created a Common Historical Narrative, intended to honor and be acceptable to the majority of the people of Israel and Palestine. The 37 chapters have been reviewed, edited, and accepted by well-credentialed historians from both Israel and Palestine. This narrative is the work of many team members over almost eight years, with sometimes stormy sessions, and with great personal courage by some. It has provided an extraordinary braiding of the two opposite and contradictory narratives into one. TIPP is a non-profit organization that provides forstrategic intervention through initiatives that target the source of this ongoing conflict since 1882. TIPP defines that source as the historically developed, parallel and mutually contradictory stories that live in the literature and are held in the consciousness of the Israeli and Palestinian peoples. Sociologists refer to such stories as “national historical narratives”. We call them “the contradictory narratives”.
