It all began with a man called George, who opened his first shop back in 1967. Back in the 80’s we started making Fish & Chips for the folks of Belper and the original George’s was born. Even back then we wanted to change the way Fish & Chips were served, turning them into the most delightful experience. Over the last 25 years we’ve tasted almost every variation of this traditional British supper. George’s promise has always been clear... all he’s ever wanted to do is serve Britain First Class Fish and Chips. This is a promise that we still live by today but not only that, we also promise to use 100% sustainable Ocean Wild Cod and Haddock and only 100% farm assured British potatoes, grown exclusively for us! Since then, the George’s family has grown in numbers and we are now proud to run 10 takeaways, 4 restaurants and even our own pub across the East Midlands. And NEW for 2015: George’s Kitchen - the result of our 25 years of tasting, making, listening and dreaming up new ideas. We’re as passionate about where our ingredients come from as we were back in the 80’s and we know the names of the folks who grow our potatoes, catch our fish, brew our beer and distil our Gin. All of this hard work makes George’s a good and proper place for British food with a twist.
