The Society of Merchant Venturers is a Bristol-based charitable organisation whose history dates back over 500 years. Established under Royal Charter in 1552, members of the modern-day Society share an active commitment to make the Greater Bristol area a better place for those who live and work here. The main areas of our activity are education, care for older people, charitable giving, social business and the stewardship of the Clifton and Durdham Downs. We also play a convening role in bringing together decision makers to effect positive change within the region across a variety of different sectors.
