Our scientific focus is on the study of organismal biology. The focus is both on comparative approaches through behavioral observations in natural environments and in the study of underlying biological mechanisms that are indispensable for understanding where and how selection can act. We explore, among other things, how bird song evolves through learning processes and the role of neural bases and hormones; and questions about the evolution of mating systems, mate choice, promiscuity, and parental care.
