Gameday Spirit Fanstore traces its history back to Gary & Al’s Sporting Goods, which originally opened on the University of Illinois campus in 1986. In 1998, the transition from a sporting goods store to a true fanstore began with a change in name to Gameday Sports and a move to the heart of the University of Illinois campustown area (corner of 6th & Green streets in Champaign). This transition reached its current state in 2014 with our official re-branding as Gameday Spirit Fanstore, the opening of our brand new store at the same campustown location and the opening of our second retail store just around the corner from the University of Illinois athletic complex. In late 2016, we unveiled a brand new online fanstore at gamedayspirit.com that offers the largest variety of Fighting Illini merchandise anywhere online. In addition to our retail stores and online presence, Gameday Spirit is also the on-site concessionaire for all University of Illinois varsity athletic events.
