We make Big Data useful. If you are an organization that could benefit from creating, organizing, analyzing, or presenting data, we make that happen. A few of the ever-increasing applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are asset management, marketing, demographics, suitability studies, spatial analysis, project management statistcal analysis, web apps, etc. One Example: I recently chatted with a colleague who leads growth and development of a national organization. His industry is intimately related to the Colleges and Universities around the US. As we chatted he progressed from an obscure, irrelevant understanding of GIS to being genuinely excited about the possibilities I could provide for him. My colleague has franchises of his organization scattered throughout the US. They relate to different campuses with different emphases, public to private, East coast to West coast, Big 10 schools to community colleges. There is also a vast array of success at each individual franchise. Being that my colleague has been at this for a few years and has some of his own data relating to the success of his franchises, I began talking to him about all of data we could compare his data against. Tuition costs, average enrollment, schools set in big or small cities, average age or ethnicity of students, etc. From there we could look for patterns that make a certain University a prime candidate for expansion and a focus for investing available resources. This is one specific example of making a large data set, when related to an internal dataset, very useful. It's exciting to see the capabilities of GIS develop strategies and achieve growth for this organization.
