Diversity In Aquatics (DIA) is the nation’s largest network of ethnically diverse aquatic professionals, athletes, enthusiast, and researchers working together to help save lives. Drowning is a “global epidemic” and since being founded in 2006, the organization has defined excellence through programming developed to educate, promote, and support collaborative community engagement efforts among diverse aquatic professionals and national aquatic stakeholders. Vision Our vision is to create a nation where all communities have access to quality educational aquatic opportunities to empower and improve the quality of life and reduce the risk of unintentional drowning deaths in historically underrepresented communities and vulnerable populations. Mission The mission of Diversity in Aquatics is focused on efforts to eliminate the drowning disparity among historically underrepresented populations. Organizational Goals Promote: To increase the knowledge and awareness of water safety and drowning prevention, and aquatic physical activities in historically underrepresented communities and vulnerable populations. Educate: To provide educational programming and collaborative relationships in traditionally underrepresented communities in order to equip historically underrepresented communities and vulnerable populations with the skills needed to be safe and participate in aquatic physical activities and environments. Support: To increase sustainability in water safety and drowning prevention efforts and involvement in a variety of aquatic physical activities in historically underrepresented communities and vulnerable populations.
