Up until around 6 years ago we had always programmed bespoke solutions for our clients, we still do but many clients specify open source to keep their options open. Since then we have adopted Wordpress as our favoured open source CMS although we can also build on other platforms. An understanding of WP across a wide range of sites (some very high volume) allows us make informed decisions about architecture and optimisation.
