Construction Alliance North East (CAN) is a collection of construction and engineering bodies that represent over 500 member companies. With a combined turnover of £3bn, employing in excess of 100,000 people, we support contractors in the North East have their say. CAN was created from a desire to support and promote the North East’s talented and highly skilled SME contractors. Our aim is to play a strategic role in ensuring that a fair share of public sector tender opportunities are made available to all SME construction companies based in the North East. We hope to achieve this first and foremost by lobbying Government, MPs, MEPs, local authorities and other procurement organisations, to remind them of the benefits, not only to the companies procuring projects but to the regional economy as a whole, of working with regional firms.
