The Wellesley Free Library Foundation (The Library Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2008 to raise philanthropic funds to support the programs and innovations that make our town’s library an outstanding resource and point of pride for the community. The Library Foundation’s annual fundraising efforts include pursuing support from individuals, families, corporations and foundations through personal solicitation for major and leadership gifts, an annual fund, and a biennial gala. The Foundation recently raised $1.4 million in our first capital campaign to renovate the Main Branch Library and grow our endowment. Our endowments exceed $5.5 million (mainly restricted funds). In recent years, The Library Foundation has made annual grants to the Library averaging nearly $250,000 from ongoing fundraising activities. Our current focus is raising unrestricted revenue.
