NGMN Alliance
www.ngmn.orgDriven by leading network operators, NGMN Alliance provides a global platform to develop next generation mobile networks which benefit all end users and industries. The NGMN Alliance was founded by leading international mobile network operators in 2006. The objective is to ensure that the standards for next generation network infrastructure, service platforms and devices will meet the requirements of operators and, ultimately, will satisfy end user demand and expectations. The operators in NGMN jointly defined the requirements for the next generation of mobile networks and thus paved the way for a focused and milestone-oriented development and implementation. These requirements are documented and published in the NGMN reference document »White Paper on Next Generation Mobile Networks beyond HSPA & EVDO« and in papers recently published and continuously being developed. Please refer to www.ngmn.org for more information. The NGMN Partners ensure that requirements are identified, consolidated, prioritised, documented and distributed. The standards are being developed by SDOs. It is, of course, not only about technological issues – the required bandwidth and appropriate frequency bands must be provided and tangible commercial conditions must be established, for instance, by providing greater transparency for royalty rates on intellectual property. NGMN's General Vision for 5G: “5G is an end-to-end ecosystem to enable a fully mobile and connected society. It empowers value creation towards customers and partners, through existing and emerging use cases, delivered with consistent experience, and enabled by sustainable business models.”
