Ted’s Light CIC is a non-profit Community Interest Company created to bring love, light and reassurance to children entering emergency foster care and honours the memory of a very special little boy who loved, lived, and will be forever remembered and missed. Our mission is to ensure that the 30,000+ young children entering the UK care system each year have something to hug, hold on to and feel comforted by when in the dark of unfamiliar surroundings. When a child goes into care, it can be a frightening and disorienting experience. Hugging a teddy bear can make them feel less alone, less afraid and for children over 3 yrs of age, we also provide a night light to help them settle into their new bedrooms. Ted’s Light is young but already has support from an amazing range of ambassadors who will soon make themselves known and we have big goals – first national, then international… We have already completed a successful pilot with Coram in the South of England with nearly 100 Teds heading to new homes with children, with more to follow. So, what do we need? We need funding. Just £15 buys a child (over 3 yrs) a care package containing a Ted and a night light. Children under 3 receive a cuddly Ted to join them on their journey.
