The Florida Lions Eye Bank was founded in 1962 and it is today one of the nation’s oldest and largest non-profit organizations dedicated to providing donor eye tissue for transplantation. Over half a century more than 40,000 people have received the Gift of Sight from the Eye Bank. Located in the nation’s premier eye hospital, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the Eye Bank also houses a highly regarded and prestigious ophthalmic pathology laboratory used by physicians worldwide. Additionally, the Eye Bank provides technological and financial resources and ophthalmic tissue for teaching and research.
