China California Heart Watch

www.chinacal.org

Founded in 2006, the China California Heart Watch is a 501(c)(3) public charity that brings together experts from the United States, China, and around the world. Together, we use innovative and sustainable methods to combat the growing epidemic of heart disease in Yunnan Province, China. Our mission is to serve the people of Yunnan through: (1) training local healthcare professionals in the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of heart disease; (2) improving access to high-quality healthcare and life-saving treatments; and (3) researching the epidemiology of heart disease, the effectiveness of our interventions, and other topics of critical value to rural Chinese populations. The activities of the China California Heart Watch generate no profits. We operate solely through the generosity and vision of our donors, foundations, and granting agencies. To date, the China California Heart Watch has trained over 2,000 village doctors in cardiac auscultation, pediatric assessment and heart disease management, helped save the lives of over 200 children born with congenital heart defects, and published five peer-review papers in the international literature about high blood pressure and heart disease in Yunnan Province. In addition, we have treated tens of thousands of impoverished villagers in Yunnan via our mobile health clinics. The China California Heart Watch relies heavily on volunteers to carry out our work. We welcome long-term volunteers and specialist cardiology medical personnel for shorter, project-based trips.
