The South West Legal Support Trust (SWLST) is a grant-making charity which raises funds for free legal advice services in Dorset, Hampshire, Bristol and of course the ‘real’ South West down to Cornwall. The Trust works to enable the provision of free legal advice to members of the public who would otherwise be disadvantaged and also supports other charitable work that promotes access to justice. The charities supported by the SWLST help to facilitate access to justice for the poorest and most disadvantaged members of society. They provide free legal help to people facing problems such as homelessness, debt, employment, family issues, discrimination and injustice and they really need funds to support their work. As part of a network of Legal Support Trusts, working with the Access to Justice Foundation, we support the provision of specialist legal advice through law centres, advice agencies and other free legal advice organisations. We do this by providing the organisations, on application, with grant funding. We raise money through fundraising events, including sponsored legal walks, and distribute the funds raised to those services in greatest need.
