Glass is 100% recyclable and can be recycled endlessly. The problem is the majority of glass recycling in Northeast Ohio is commingled, which means it is mixed with other recyclables (i.e. paper, aluminum, plastics). By the time the glass gets sorted at the material recovery facility (MRF), it is too contaminated to be properly recycled. As a result, it is sent to landfills as mass cover or road base, ending its life-cycle. Repeat Glass creates a separate recycling stream solely for glass materials. This process greatly reduces the risk of contamination, which means it meets the quality standards necessary to be made into glass products again. Not only does this process allow for the glass life-cycle to continue, but it also reduces the need for natural resources in the production of new glass.
