Reframe
plus.enactus.orgReFRAME social enterprise builds upon the open source Precious Plastic Community initiative. Our aim is to spread awareness of sustainable transport and to provide it. We also want to spread awareness of the importance of recycling and the circular economy. By developing our own recycling workshop, our goal is to collect and reuse the plastic to create recycled plastic commuter bikes. Our bikes will be perfect for student commuters as well as city and office commuters. By creating a bike made from recycled plastic we are offsetting plastic which would probably never be recycled or reused. This creates a bike with a smaller carbon footprint than many other bikes and helps decrease the users plastic footprint. We will then market the bikes and we also plan to work with city bike schemes to make their transport infrastructure more sustainable for the general public using our product. Finally, an end goal would be to work with an NGO to provide bikes to the Global South that would be (1) a form of transport and (2) would allow the rider to generate electricity as they ride. This electricity could then be used when they get home to charge their phones, provide light or power a fan during the day. It would provide a better way of travel & transport for rural Africans & provide them with clean renewable electricity.
