Street Dog Dash 5K
www.streetdogdash5k.comThe Street Dog Dash is an annual 5K race to raise funds and awareness for the fight against the Dog Meat Trade in Asia, where dogs are brutalized and tortured for their meat. There is a belief that the more adrenaline in the bloodstream of the dogs, the tastier they are, which is completely misguided belief. We raise funds for two non-profits who are on the ground in Asia fighting against the trade, Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation and Soi Dog Foundation. These organizations are working to: put legislation in place to end the trade, educate the public about compassion towards animals, help close slaughterhouses and help the owners start cruelty-free restaurants, and rescue and rehabilitate victims of the trade. A percentage of the proceeds from the race also go towards local animal shelters so we can give to our local community, and we host an animal adoption event after the race. Last year we had 200 registered runners and over 50 dogs who ran in the race. Leashed and vaccinated dogs are welcome to run with you in the race, and we hope you'll join us for next year's race on April 13, 2019! Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates on next year's race!
