African Women Acting is a not-for-profit African Women Artists organization geared towards empowering, preserving and promoting Women issues & the heritage of African culture through African arts and Female artistes or artistes with African expression. We also intend to increase the public understanding and appreciation of African traditional and contemporary arts through professional female artistic production i.e. music, theatre, spoken word, dance, visual-arts and festival. Our priority as AWA is focused on African female or artists of African Diaspora but we as well collaborate with other gender and ethnic group’s counterpart in the artistic scene. AWA will create new role models of professional African female artistes (or artistes with African expression) in Canada and across through proper training/education, community projects and collaborations, productions, exhibitions. Instructional seminars will be provided on topics relating to the female performing and visual arts (music, dance, theatre art, filmmaking, literary art, creative visual and design art & media art) Production of AWA performing arts festivals and workshops with female Artists participation will be held in public and private venues, senior citizen homes, churches, community centres, groups and educational institutions at all levels. AWA will also create an informative network among female artistes and advise on the artistic activities and initiatives that are held among countries internationally.
