Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) was founded by a group of film industry stalwarts in 1997. The Academy was conceived and created with an aim to engage film lovers from all walks of life, and to foster an ideal climate of good cinema across the country by presenting the best of global and Indian cinema. The Academy organises an annual international film festival (Mumbai Film Festival) in Mumbai, India's film and entertainment capital. It hosts an immersive and comprehensive programme that celebrates diverse cinematic voices from India and beyond, including premiers of cutting-edge and independent films. In its 18th year, the Academy launched a clutter-breaking and one of its kind Year Round Programme. This free to register programme nurtures and sates the diverse needs of the film audience in Mumbai and has a loyal following across various cities after growing a digital arm during the pandemic.
