The four hospital trusts in Lancashire and South Cumbria are working together to improve pathology services for patients. Work is underway to develop a single pathology service for the area. This will see the development of a £30m Hub for the processing of non-urgent tests. Essential service laboratories will remain on hospital sites to support the provision of emergency and urgent care pathways. Pathology is essential to the delivery of all patient pathways.
