Seattle Neighborhood Group educates, organizes, and collaborates with residents, businesses, government entities, and other organizations to create safe communities through equitable engagement, focusing on underserved populations. Our Mission: We are committed to engaging people, encouraging participation, and solving challenging problems together. The relationships we develop and the trust we build are central to doing our work effectively, and they are undoubtedly our most valuable assets. Our Vision: Our goal is to increase safety, belonging, and positive activities in partnership with our communities and other organizations. We seek to strengthen community connections through events, outreach, and community conversation and share basic, effective, accessible safety skills that people need to use every day in many situations. What We Do: We work throughout Seattle in partnership with resident groups, neighborhood associations, and individuals who want to make their community safer. Our focus is on safety for all, and we use a variety of approaches to support safety in the communities we work in. Workshops, Outreach, and Education: Sharing skills and information through our workshops is a way to help create safer communities. We host the Impact! Youth Conference, an annual day-long event for high school youth leaders, a Community CPTED Workshop to share safe place-making principles, and Safe Rental Property Workshops. We offer various short presentations for small groups focused on Personal Safety, ID Theft & Fraud, and others. We reach out to businesses in our communities with Small Business Safety Visits. Placed-Based Projects: Project coordination involving many activities: cleanups, murals, block parties, business safety outreach, education campaigns, facilitated community conversations &service coordination. We also offer CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) tools to identify features and patterns that contribute to safe communities.
