MedAustron is one of the world's most cutting-edge centers for cancer treatment and research. It uses an innovative form of radiation therapy, namely ion beam therapy. Patients get irradiated with charged particles - protons or carbon ions. This form of therapy is optimal for treating tumors close to radiation sensitive organs.
