East Durham Business Service (EDBS) is the Enterprise Agency for the District of Easington. Part of the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA) it offers small and medium sized businesses and those wishing to start their own business the support needed. Based at Novus Business Centre, in the heart of the business community of Peterlee, EDBS has specialists in business advice, economic development and grant administration. Established in 2003, EDBS has developed into a highly skilled and professional organisation providing advice on business planning, marketing, retail, business growth and funding as well as Apprenticeships East Durham. EDBS has two core functions, Business Support and Economic Development. Business Support The Business Support team offer independent advice to businesses on a range of topics including Start up, marketing, retail, commercial property and growth and expansion. Funding can also be sought from a range of key partners including OneNorthEast and Business Link. Economic Development EDBS works to promote East Durham as a location for business investment, to attract employers to the area and take advantage of the areas excellent transport links, skilled workforce and central location. Statistical information is presented in an easily digestable form for the East Durham area. The Apprenticeships East Durham Scheme is also delivered by EDBS using the agencies strong local business links to provide relevant apprenticeship opportunities for East Durham's young people and adults. EDBS work with various organisations such as Aim High Routeback, the Local Strategic Partnership and the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative.
