Whether it’s camping, hiking, community improvement or building remote-controlled robots, Scouting offers exciting programs designed to inspire, build character and instill the values that girls and boys need to succeed today. The Greater St. Louis Area Council, one of the largest Councils in the nation has more than 23,000 members and nearly 10,000 adult volunteers. They come from 51 different counties in the Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois and St. Louis Metropolitan areas. The council, headquartered in St. Louis, serves these areas with offices located in Belleville, Ill., Herrin, Ill., and Cape Girardeau, Mo. Scouting units in the Greater St. Louis area Council are chartered by over 1,000 different community groups that include civic, non-profit, religious, educational and business organizations from the St. Louis region. The Scout Mission To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Scout Oath On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country And to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, Mentally awake, and morally straight. Scout Law A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.
