illuminAid equips and trains organizations in developing nations to produce and share low-cost video content in order to help educate and safeguard local communities facing our world's most pressing challenges. Matt and Patrice York founded illuminAid in January of 2008, after more than 20 years in publishing and video production. To date, illuminAid has trained 600 NGO workers in 28 countries, partnering with some of the most experienced organizations in the world to incorporate video into their behavior-change communication (BCC) strategies, including the Center for Disease Control, Save the Children, Mercy Corps, the US State Department, and CRS. This field experience has deepened our understanding of what is possible with video. In addition to providing partners with equipment, know-how and guidance on video production, illuminAid is constantly working to develop cutting-edge innovations to hardware and software so that organizations can increase their reach and impact. illuminAid empowers individuals in the 50 poorest countries on the planet to create locally originated video's on topics such as: public health, disaster risk management, improved food production, basic education, sanitation and hygiene and maternal and child health.
