www.anzhfr.org

The people comprising the ANZHFR are a group of clinicians and experts in the field, with representation from a number of key professional organisations, led by a partnership between the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine (ANZSGM) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). In 2011, the ANZHFR set out to achieve a number of goals including: - The development of Australian and New Zealand Guidelines for hip fracture care - Defining standards of care and measurable quality indicators - The development of hip fracture registries in both Australia and New Zealand to allow for timely comparison of meaningful data which should be used to understand practice and trigger the case for change in places where care might possibly be improved The Australian and New Zealand Guideline for Hip Fracture Care was published in September 2014, with approval from the National Health and Medical Research Council in Australia. As of March 2015, the Australian Hip Fracture Registry is live and the New Zealand Hip Fracture Registry is being piloted in the Northern Region District Health Boards (DHBs). In Australia, 9 hospitals in 3 States have completed their ethics approval processes. Five hospitals have started entering data. In New Zealand, the pilot in the Northern Region is gaining momentum, with 4 hospitals having entered data. To date, 119 cases have been recorded in Australia and 114 cases in New Zealand. This ANZHFR LinkedIn page will provide ongoing updates of implementation of the registries on both sides of the Tasman, including links to the ANZHFR monthly newsletter.
