Canadian Cyber Defence Challenge
www.cyberdefencechallenge.caThe Canadian Cyber Defence Challenge (CCDC) is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that is entirely operated and managed by volunteer industry and education representatives. It has been in existence since 2011. The CCDC program develops students' awareness and understanding of cyber security fundamentals. CCDC works closely with the Information Technology and Communications (ICT) industry and is focused on educating and empowering the local community to use the Internet safely and securely at home, work, and school, by protecting the technology individual's use, the networks they connect to, and Canada's shared digital assets. The vision of the CCDC is that each and every student in the school system has the appropriate knowledge required to make empowered decisions regarding the safe use of information technology (IT) and security, and that education and training opportunities are available for any student that has the desire to further expand and explore that knowledge in post-secondary education and career choices. CCDC's mission is to foster communication between academia and the ICT industry. This is done by: • Working with the IT security industry in the creation of standards for learning, which will enable high quality IT security education to be delivered anytime and anywhere learners require. • To disseminate the latest IT security best practices to students and industry. • To provide real world hands-on training in an educational learning environment by bringing together technology, instructors, students and vendors.
