Henrys Home Horse and Human Sanctuary
www.henryshomehorsesanctuary.orgHenry's Home Horse and Human Sanctuary is an all-volunteer 501c3, located in south Conroe. We take in rescued horses, giving them a forever home and meaningful work in our Horses & Heroes Equine Learning Program. That program offers our local veterans and first responders as much time with our 32 horses as they want, including therapeutic ground training and arena/obstacle course/trail riding lessons, at no cost to them. Their families are also welcome, but pay a small fee for training and riding lessons. Horses are the very best therapists and teachers, reacting honestly and instantly to your energy, emotions, words and thoughts. We also offer another program called our Horses & Heroes Ranch Life Mentoring Program. This program offers veterans and first responders the opportunity to teach or learn real-life skills needed to run a ranch, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, mechanics, pasture and pond maintenance, gardening and ranch cooking, to name a few. Participants work with peers, and civilians, on projects here at the sanctuary, often bringing a renewed sense of purpose back to their lives. We were located in Grand Central Park for four years before having a neglected 21-acre horse farm donated to us at the beginning of 2021. We are fully funded by local donations from people, other nonprofit organizations, corporations and community grants, and partner with a number of other local and national veteran-service organizations. We currently serve about a hundred veteran and first responder families regularly with our programs, as well as numerous veteran groups that come for just the day. And we are also available for corporate and organization equine team-building. Or if you are looking for a building volunteer day for your gang, we would love to have you. Come out for a tour, see what we do and meet the horses.
