Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria

www.ppfn.org

Founded as non-profit charity organization in 1964 for family planning service provision, PPFN has evolved over the years from solely family planning service provision into provision of comprehensive health services with competencies in HIV, Malaria, Reproductive health, Adolescents’ health, Maternal and Child health, programming and service delivery over the last five decades in Nigeria. PPFN harnesses its local presence/national spread, global connection, strong partnerships and knowledge of SRHR needs of people living in crisis affected area to ensure that their SRHR needs are met. Upholding the sexual and reproductive health needs and rights of the most marginalized and under-served remains at the heart of PPFN’s people-centred approach. We challenge stigma and discrimination, use disaggregated data to focus attention on population groups that are the most under-served, and advocate for policies, which ensure that the most marginalized, have access to the services and information they need. PPFN delivers an integrated package of essential services (IPES) which constitutes sexuality counselling, contraception, safe abortion care, STI, HIV, gynaecology, obstetrics services and GBV through 245 PPFN owned and associate clinics in 33 states of Nigeria. These services in the package, have been proven by WHO to deliver high impact in resource-poor settings and when combined the services have the ability to transform the lives of women, girls and other poor and vulnerable populations. In other words, PPFN provides technical support to public/private providers, helping to develop the capacity of the providers to recognize and prevent violence against women. PPFN has enshrined a culture of quality assurance mechanism into its operation to demonstrate value for money and enhance beneficiaries’ satisfaction and by extension build confidence in all of our interventions.
