We are a multi-disciplinary, multi-national research group in the Geological Institute of the RWTH Aachen University, focusing on Structural Geology, Tectonics and Geomechanics. Our interests range from seismic interpretation of fault surfaces to fluid inclusions on grain boundaries and from salt structures to the porosity filling minerals in sandstones. Our main research and teaching areas are salt, veins, faults, mullions and boudins. Our tools include macroscale and microscale observations, ranging from GigaPixel outcrop panoramas to Cryo BIB-SEM and gamma decorated salts. We further use various numerical and analogue experiments, 3D seismic approaches and field studies.
