Christian Academy of Guatemala
www.christacadguate.orgChristian Academy of Guatemala (CAG) is an independent, non-profit, non-denominational, college preparatory institution offering biblically-based, rigorous academic program modeled after the best educational practices and methodologies of the United States. It is founded on the principles of coeducational, bi-cultural (Guatemala-United States) teaching. Respect for political, social, and ethnic diversity is a fundamental part of the School’s identity. CAG was founded in 1974 by several missionary families to serve evangelical, English-speaking missionaries with the educational needs of their children. The school consists of three sections: Elementary (Kindergarten–grade 5), Middle (grades 6–8), and High school (grades 9–12). The School is dual accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia. The curriculum is that of a U.S. college-preparatory school. Instruction is given in the English language. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered through Sevenstar Online Academy and Acellus for an additional cost if an AP teacher for a particular course is unavailable. Dual Enrollment (DE) is offered through various accredited universities in the United States. AP, DE & Honor classes are weighted at 5.0. Students must achieve a final semester grade of 70% or higher in a class to pass the course and earn credit. By School Policy, CAG does not rank its students. CAG acknowledges credit from a student’s previous school with a “P” or a passing grade. A copy of the previous school’s transcript is included for a grade reference upon request. The school year calendar runs from August to May, following a standard schedule used by schools in the United States.
