iyiMetal
www.iyimetal.comAluminum metal has a critical role in industries where weight reduction is at the forefront, such as the electric vehicle industry. Features such as lightness, high mechanical strength, and high corrosion resistance under certain conditions make aluminum and its alloys stand out. When choosing the production method of these aluminum parts used in the vehicle, the shape of the part is usually the most important criterion. While flat ones are produced by rolling and extrusion, aluminum parts with complex geometry can only be produced by casting today. However, the usage rate of cast aluminum in the vehicle is quite limited due to the unsuccessful formation of an “artificially created protective oxide layer on the surface of the aluminum” (called anodization) following the casting. For this reason, the industry has to prefer alternatives such as steel which is heavier, more difficult to manufacture/recycle, and has a higher carbon footprint. As iyiMETAL, we have removed all obstacles to the application of the anodization to cast aluminum products. After years of R&D studies in ITU laboratories and ITU Technopolis, we combined the classical anodization process with detailed electrochemical analysis and software technology and made anodization possible for cast aluminum parts in an environmentally friendly and low-cost way. By developing a process that is specific to the part to be produced, we obtain this protective layer on cast aluminum with the highest efficiency and the highest quality possible, and thus, we have paved the way for the use of aluminum in a much wider area.
