Office of Environment and Society
www.officeofenvironmentandsociety.comENSŌ, or the Office of Environment and Society, imagines the research a United States cabinet department would do to study past and future interaction between environment and society. It is an evolving collaborative project that seeks to publish works by individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. The name ENSŌ refers to the Japanese practice of meditative circle-drawing in which the circle represents creativity, freedom of thought and the connection of our mind to the world around us. Our collective journey to solve climate change demands an ability to connect ideas across space, allowing us the freedom to imagine the world not as it currently is, but as what it can be.
