Cheri Smith Photography
www.cherismithphotography.comArtist's Statement "I make pictures. Some of my subjects can fit on the head of a pin, others are vast segments of the Earth. Some pictures are ideas and others are products. To do what I do, I need to know a bit about everything... carpentry, light, math, physics, sewing, cooking, kittens, kids, airplanes... and everything in between. Each client has a vastly different world, all his or her own. I get to learn and appreciate what they do and witness their achievements with my camera. From explorers of science to children full of delight, no two pictures, like no two people, are ever the same. How cool is that?" Official Bio Since graduating from Hope College in 1974 with a B.A. in Fine Arts, Cheri has lived and worked from NYC to the coast of California, but loves the Great Lakes best, saying "Michigan is home. The beauty here is subtle. There are more shades of green here than any other place on earth. All that, and it's surrounded by water... it's heaven." She has studied photography with Ansel Adams, Yousef Karsh, Dean Collins, and Will Crockett among others and pursued graduate studies at the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University. She was a part of Ann Arbor's Group 243, as well as owning photographic studios singly and in association with others since 1984. Currently residing in Holland, she is expanding her business across Michigan. Cheri's photos fall into many categories, such as... people (executive portraits, glamour, weddings, website portraits), location (architecture, interior design, nature, aerial, city scenes, landscapes, lifestyle), editorial, technology, food, product (industrial machines to spun yarn), medical, health, stock, conceptual, art and agriculture. Of course, new categories and concepts are always welcome.
