Against the Grain is a social enterprise that gives young people who fall into the NEET category (Not in Education, Employment or Training) a unique opportunity to contribute to a successful business, learn new skills and improve their employability. Our trainees produce unique up-cycled and restored pieces of donated furniture, which are often destined for landfill and are sold in our shop and the money is re-invested back into training for the trainees. Our first programme was launched in Reading in October 2016 and we hope to expand beyond Berkshire in the future.
